Chris not only put her own life on the line in Vietnam while entertaining our boys, she was then, and still is, a true patriot and defender of our flag and our country. Elvis got to know Chris during the filming of Girl Happy," and though he wanted to date her, Chris wasn't into playing games. As Elvis knew her to be, Chris Noel was a "good girl" in 1960's Hollywood when decency and morality eluded reality. Chris, perhaps later, regretted she had turned Elvis down. Chris revealed to me something that Elvis used to do to her while making the film together. Elvis' humor never failed him. He would sing her last name softly into her ear: "Leon...Leon." He could be a tease, but in truth, Elvis respected Chris and admired her dedication to veterans." -Barbara Lee
Chris made several movies in Hollywood before deciding to take on a new career which took her to Vietnam, during the raging conflict, where she spent her youth and her days entertaining our brave young men, traveling the areas, and riding in helicopters. Her bravery and devotion to the men earned her the title of honorary Vietnam Veteran. Chris became a very special part of the Vietnam era, and the men who served while she was there have never forgotten her service or her loyalty to them or to their later causes.
Today, Chris continues her loyalty and service to our Vietnam Veterans through a place they can call "home," the house that Chris built for aging and homeless veterans known as Vetsville Cease Fire House.
