Long live King Richard iii! And he does live on through those descendants of his family. King Richard III Plantagenet, formerly Richard, Duke of Gloucester, would be my 20th great grand uncle through the direct lineage of Henry Viii (Tudor) through his illegitimate son, Richard Edwards. Henry Vii's mother was Elizabeth, daughter of King Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville. King Richard III and King Edward IV being brothers, Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville being my 20th ggrandparents. Whilst the question remains as to the confirmation of Richard Edwardes being a true illegitimate son of Henry VII, Edwards DNA blood tests have already proven that theory. Furthermore, the Edwards line from Wales is already, knowingly related to the Tudors, and their lineage goes further back to King Coel Hen (of the "Old King Cole" nursery rhyme.) It is truly a wonderful thing in knowing that your roots go way back to the time of kings, and even further. While we all are related back to one single creator, families divide along the way through different time periods and mutating cells. The very thought of such a process is fascinating in and of itself.
Genealogy is such an exciting hobby, and ancestry; learning about one's ancestors and heritage is beyond settling...it's amazing! Hopefully, the genealogy archives found on this website will help you to find their "royal roots," or if you already know your ancestors, perhaps you will want to experience the excitement of sharing that information with others.
